The Dhaka stocks displayed another free fall in early hour of Monday’s session amid liquidity ‘crisis’ and investors’ shaky confidence.

The market started the session positively and soon afterwards the broad index on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) gradually declined within one and half hour of the session. The broad index showed no stance to turn around.

The market operators and experts said the reasons of investors’ shaky confidence include liquidity crisis in banking sector and the unsettled issue of selecting the DSE’s strategic partner.

Amid investors’ less participation, the majority number of listed securities went red on the DSE.

The DSE broad index DSEX lost 0.78 per cent or 45.47 points to close at 5727.89 points at 12:00am.

The Shariah based index DSES and blue chip index DS30 also declined marginally.

Of total issues traded, only 28 advanced, 247 declined and 36 were unchanged and the turnover stood at above Tk 1.0 billion.
