Trading and official activities on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will resume tomorrow (Monday) after three-day Eid holidays, officials said.
The trading on the bourses will begin at 10:30 am and continue till 2:30 pm while the offices will begin at 9:30 am and continue until 5.30pm.
Trading and settlement activities on the bourses remained closed for three days July 31, August 1 and 2 on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Azha, including weekly holidays, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims.
Meanwhile, the DSE performed well on July 30, the last trading session before Eid holidays, taking the core index of the prime bourse above 4,200-mark after five months.
DSEX, the key index of the DSE, went up by 43.22 points or 1.03 per cent to settle at 4,214 on July 30.
The two other indices -- the DS30 index and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) – also followed the suit to close at 1,420 and 976 points, after gaining 18.84 points and 11.84 points respectively on July 30 last.
Turnover, another important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 5.81 billion on the country’s prime bourse on that day, which was 45 per cent higher than the previous day’s turnover of Tk 3.99 billion.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange also ended higher with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)—gaining 82 points to close at 11,957 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX –advancing 49 points to finish at 7,250 on July 30.
Of the issues traded, 98 gained, 42 declined and 94 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 5.29 million shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 118 million.
