Dhaka and Chittagong stocks edged higher on Wednesday, the penultimate day of the capital market this week.
DSEX, prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) advanced 7.45 points or 0.11 per cent to settle at 6289.33 points.
Two other indices of the premier bourse also went up slightly.
Of them, DS30 index comprising the blue-chips rose 1.93 points or 0.085 per cent to finish at 2270.66, and DSES gained 7.83 points or 0.56 per cent to finish at 1389.56 points.
DSE saw a trading of 251.7 million shares and mutual fund units with the turnover standing at Tk 8980.05 million, down by Tk 1938.99 million from Tk 10919.04 million registered on the previous day.
Of 327 issues traded on the main trading floor, 167 went up, 120 down and 40 remained unchanged on the fourth trading day of the week.
Peninsula Chittagong Limited topped the turnover with its closing share price Tk 24.30 while Baraka Power Limited was the worst performer with its closing share price Tk 36.20.
Another bourse Chittagong Stocks Exchange (CSE) saw a mixed trend with its selective categories index CSCX advancing 16.60 points to close at 11782.56.
Two of four other CSE indices closed in the negative. Of them, CSE50 saw 0.46 points lower to settle at 1478.91 points, and CSE30 was down 39.85 points to settle at 17517.84.
Of the 245 issues traded, 116 closed higher, 95 lower and 34 stayed unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
Port city bourse CSE traded 15.57 million shares and mutual fund units with the turnover standing at Tk 440.59 million.
