Bourses remain upbeat

All indices of Dhaka and Chittagong bourses saw an increase at end of the week’s last trading session on Thursday.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), advanced 33.18 points or 0.52 per cent to settle at 6322.51 points at close.

Two other indices of the premier bourse also went up slightly.

Of those, DS30 index, comprising the blue-chip issues, rose 6.69 points or 0.29 per cent to finish at 2277.35 while DSES, Shariah index of the main bourse, gained 3.89 points or 0.28 per cent to settle at 1393.45 points.

A total of 245.75 million shares and mutual fund units were traded on the DSE with the turnover total of nearly Tk 8.55 billion.

Of the 322 issues traded on the main trading floor, 185 went up, 96 down and 41 remained unchanged on the fifth and last trading day of the week.

The Chittagong Stocks Exchange (CSE) saw its selective categories index CSCX advancing 62.15 points to close at 11844.71 points.

Of the 245 issues traded, 139 closed higher, 80 lower and 26 stayed unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

The port city bourse traded 20.33 million shares and mutual fund units in total with the turnover standing at Tk 971.2 million.
