BMBA teams up with BICM for stock market development

Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association (BMBA) and Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM) will work together for the development of the country’s capital market.

The two institutions will work on various issues for the development of the market and jointly organise training programmes, workshops, seminars, and conduct research works.

In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between BMBA and BICM at the BMBA office in the capital on Wednesday.

Md Sayadur Rahman, president of Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association and Prof Dr Mahmuda Akhter, executive president of BICM, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

Capital Market Journalists’ Forum (CMJF) President Ziaur Rahman and General Secretary Abu Ali, executive members of BMBA and other senior officials of BICM, were present on the occasion, among others.

BICM executive president Prof Dr Mahmuda Akhter presented various plans to work with BMBA for the development of the capital market of Bangladesh.

She also discussed in detail the role of creating awareness about the stock market among the general public by organising training and workshops.

CMJF President Ziaur Rahman gave a speech emphasising training for capital market development.

BMBA President Sayadur Rahman thanked and expressed gratitude to all the members present at the signing ceremony and expressed commitment that BMBA and BICM will work hard together.

He expects cooperation from all, including the media, to further strengthen the capital market.

The BMBA is an association of merchant bankers operating in Bangladesh. Since it started its journey in 1997, the BMBA has been working for the development of the capital market and playing a very constructive role.

Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM) was established as a national institution for imparting practical capital market education and training on July 24, 2008. The Institute is fully funded by the government.
