The ten most-traded companies accounted for 30 per cent of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the outgoing week, with Beximco dominating the turnover chart for the sixth straight week.
Beximco -- the flagship company of Beximco Group -- continued to lead the turnover chart as investors were active in both buying and selling the company's shares, market insiders said.
According to the DSE data, some 17.65 million Beximco shares were traded during the week, generating a turnover of Tk 2.10 billion, which was 7.40 per cent of the week's total turnover.
The week's total turnover stood at Tk 28.38 billion on the prime bourse.
Beximco's share closed at Tk 120.70 on Wednesday, the last trading day of the week, gaining 3.07 per cent over the week before. The company's share skyrocketed to a record high to Tk 187.90 on November 11, 2021.
The company's EPS for three months (January-March 2022) soared to Tk 4.51 as against Tk 2.38 for January-March 2021.
Malek Spinning Mills came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 866 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 4.97 per cent to close at Tk 35.90 on Wednesday.
IPDC Finance clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 858 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 61.90 on Wednesday, rising 7.47 per cent over the previous week.
Fortune Shoes emerged as the fourth, with shares worth Tk 850 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 79.50 on Wednesday.
LafargeHolcim notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 805 million changing hands. The company's share jumped 5.72 per cent to close at Tk 73.90.
Turnover of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation was Tk 724 million. The state-run corporation's share price rose 8.54 per cent to close at Tk 118.20 on Wednesday.
Sonali Paper & Board Mills featured a turnover of Tk 680 million. Its share closed at Tk 708.10, gaining 1.67 per cent over the previous week.
