England set a 338-run target for India

Riding on Jonny Bairstow’s brilliant century, hosts England set India a 338-run target in the match number 38 of the ICC World Cup 2019 on Sunday at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

During the innings, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow provided them with a brilliant platform which allowed Ben Stokes to go after the Indian bowlers in the death overs, report news agencies.

Earlier, England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to bat first against India.

Before this game, India played six matches and came up victorious in five matches with the other match was washed out due to rain. Virat Kohli-led India are the only team in the World Cup who are yet to endure a loss.

England, on the other hand, played seven matches and won four them with tasting three losses. They came to this match being at number five in on the points table. They lost two of their last four matches.

Another loss today will make England's route to the semifinals more compressed. On the other hand, a win will secure India's place in the top four of the tournament.

However, if England lose today, they will have another chance to secure a semifinals berth in their last league stage game against New Zealand on July 3.
