Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s four-for has helped Bangladesh bowlers tear through the West Indies batting line up, mirroring the first match as the visitors crumbled to 148 all out in the second ODI.
Miraz returned figures of four for 25 while Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan bagged two wickets apiece to hand the Tigers a golden opportunity to clinch the series with a match to spare at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Friday, reports bdnews24.com.
Jason Mohammed won the toss and opted to bat, putting into test their learnings from their disastrous first outing.
However, Mustafizur gave Bangladesh an ideal start by taking out Sunil Ambris (6) with one that swung away before Mehidy Hasan Miraz struck twice in an over to remove debutant Kjorn Ottley (24) and Joshua Da Silva (5).
Before the visitors could catch a breath, Tamim Iqbal introduced Shakib, who appeared to pick up from the last match by immediately going through the gates of Andre McCarthy (3) with an arm ball.
West Indies topscorer from last game Kyle Mayers then negotiated poorly with captain Jason Mohammed to be run out for duck to leave his side reeling on five for 41.
After Mohammed perished, trapped in front by Shakib, and Nkrumah Bonner played on to Hasan Mahmud, West Indies were further reduced to 71 for seven as Bangladesh threatened to wrap up the innings within 100.
But Rovman Powell smashed 41 to put up late resistance with Alzarri Joseph (17) and Akeal Hosein (12 not out) which allowed the visitors to reach the score.
Shakib followed up his match-winning four-wicket haul on Wednesday with a decent two for 30 in his 10 overs quota while Mustafizur picked up an economic 2-15 from 7.5 overs.
