Why Brazil's chances of going past quarter final are slim

Why Brazil's chances of going past quarter final are slim

Brazil, being the most successful team in the history of the FIFA World Cup, gets the tag of 'favourite' before almost every world cup.

The trend has continued this year, and pundits regard the team as among the favourites. However, the Brazil team, to put it lightly, is knee-deep in problems, and it would be a bit hard for them to get out of this precarious position and win the World Cup.

Brazil arguably has the best-attacking talents in this world cup. With Neymar, Vinicius, Antony, Richarlison, Gabriel Jesus, Rodrygo, and Co., Brazil's forward depth and quality are not visible in any other team. But when it comes to the midfield, things take a bit of a negative turn.

The team has excellent defensive midfielders like Casemiro and Fabinho and excellent attacking midfielders like Paqueta and Everton.

They will lack a midfielder who will dictate the flow of the team's offence and act as a mediator between the defence and the attack, and Manchester United's Fred is not the best in the business in this regard.

The team also has a bit of a problem with the defensive structure. However, they have rock-solid players like Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, and Eder Militao as centre-backs; their wingbacks are not the same quality as they used to be.

Despite years of experience, the veteran Dani Alves is nowhere near the player he used to be, with the other options falling short in quality compared to the elite footballing nations in Europe.

The manager, Tite, has constantly been criticised for drifting away from the traditional fluid attacking football that the Brazil National Team has been playing for eternity.

Tite seems to mix up his tactics quite a bit, which often backfires for him as his way of trying to outclass teams in the tactical zones might fall short against heavy-pressing European teams, as it has been a significant drawback ever since the Copa America Final loss against Argentina.

Despite being one of the absolute favourites to win the World Cup, Brazil are plagued with quite a few tactical problems that might not work in their favour.

With all their previous legacy, the odds are not quite in their favour if we speak the fact, and it is more likely that a team from Europe or Argentina will succeed in the World Cup. So Brazil's run might end in the quarter-final once again.
