Winning the toss and batting first, both the openers were very cautious, to begin with. That approach paid no dividend as Liton (6) got caught plumb in front despite surviving twice, courtesy of a review and a dropped catch.

Soon after, Mahedi too received a duck failing to capitalise on the promotion in the batting order.

At the end of the powerplay, Bangladesh had 29 on the board at the cost of two wickets.

Naim and Shakib then stitched a decent partnership, albeit at a relatively slow pace, and took Bangladesh at 63/2 halfway through. Naim was living dangerously in that process as Oman let go of a couple of catching opportunities.

Both the batters however shifted gears immediately after the drinks break as Bangladesh reached 100 in 13.1 overs.

The 80-run stand was broken within a couple of balls as Aqib Ilyas got a direct hit to dismiss Shakib (42 off 29).

In quick succession, Shohan (3) too got dismissed failing to capitalise on his promotion as he got held in the long-off region.

Bangladesh lost their way even further in the seventeenth over as both Afif (1) and Naim (64 off 50) failed to clear the fence.

In the penultimate over, Mushfiq (6) nicked one to the keeper and Saif (0) slogged one to the long-off, making it even harder for Bangladesh to accelerate in the death.

The last over did not yield much as Mahmudullah (17 off 10) got knocked over and Mustafiz (2) skied one too high only to get caught.

Bilal Khan and Fayyaz Butt have been the key resources for Oman, picking up three wickets each.
