Bangladesh have a rare chance of winning a series against Australia today. Being 2-0 up, the Tigers are not probing to do any mistakes and will want to seal the series on a high.
On the contrary, Australia’s challenge will be to keep the series alive. They can’t afford to put a foot wrong and after losing seven out of their last eight games, their morale couldn’t be any lower.
Still, Australia would certainly look to turn things around. And it can be seen by the fact that they didn’t take any rest on Thursday, practising against the spinners in the net, which has caused them serious problems in the first two games.
Due to the heavy quarantine protocols, it’s hard to find out possible changes. It is anticipated that due to the condition, an additional spinner like Mitchell Swepson or Tanveer Sangha might get in the XI today.
However, it’s the batting that should concern Australians the most. Big Bash wonder Josh Philippe is failing consistently at the international level. Nobody is consistent except Mitch Marsh who, however, is not scoring at the pace Australia would love. They need to sort these quickly if they really want to stay in the series. Also, their bowling needs to be perfect like it was in the other games.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, seems relaxed as they gave their players a day off Thursday. Their only focus would be to keep up the good work, especially from the youngsters.
However, Bangladesh are not having the perfect game either. They would really hope their top order finally end up failing. Interesting to see if Afif finally gets the promotion in the batting order. An unchanged XI is expected from them.
The match starts at 6:00pm local time at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
