South Africa on course to crush BD under pile of runs

South Africa are on course to pile a mammoth total in the first innings of the 2nd Test against Bangladesh as they collected 428/3 in 90 overs at the end of first day at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein on Friday. 

Hashim Amla (89* off 99b; 12x4) and skipper Faf du Plessis (62* off 92b; 6x4) were at the crease at stumps, as per a report on UNB.

South Africa started the day’s 3rd session with 256/1 in 56 overs after losing centurion opener Dean Elgar in the 2nd session and lost the 2nd wicket at 276/2 in 58.4 overs when Aiden Markram was bowled by Rubel Hossain after scoring his maiden century. 

Temba Bavuma (7) was caught behind by Liton Kumar Das at 288/3 in 61.2 overs to be the 2nd batsman dismissed by Subashis Roy in the innings. 

In the 1st session, Proteas collected 126/0 in 29 overs and played 27 overs in the second session to raise their tally to 256/1 in 56 overs spurred by their opening pair contribution of 243 off 53.4 overs between the two centurions -- Elgar and Markram.

Markram scored 143 off 186 balls, including 22 boundaries.

Subashis made the 1st breakthrough for Bangladesh dismissing Elgar who was caught by Mustafizur Rahman hitting his 10th Test ton scoring 113 off 152 balls, including 17 boundaries.

Subashis Roy captured two wickets for 85 runs while Rubel Hossien took the other wicket for 91 for the Tigers.
