Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) reduced the number of national cricketers under its central contract to 10 from exiting 16, excluding six national cricketers from their contract.
The six cricketers are opening batsman Soumya Sarkar, top order batsman Imrul Kayes, all rounders Sabbir Rahman and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, pacers Taskin Ahmed and Kamrul Islam Rabbi.
BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon made the announcement to the newsmen after the day’s Executive Committee meeting.
The BCB boss did not, however, make any announcement that there will be any increase in the salary of the national contracted cricketers as per expectations.
Reliable sources said the salary of the contracted players may just increase 25 to 30 per cent according to their categories.
In the last year, salary of A plus category cricketers like Mashrafe, Shakib, Tamim and Mushfiqur increased almost double from 2,50,000 to 400,000 and A category like Mahmudullah increased to Tk 300,000 lakh from Tk 200,000, reports UNB .
