Former Bangladesh cricket captain and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's father-in-law Momtaz Ahmed passed away on December 16. He was 72.
Shakib had left Gemcon Khulna, his team in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup, before the finals to see his ailing father-in-law in the US. But before he reached the US, his father-in-law had breathed his last.
Sources close to Shakib's family said that his father-in-law had been suffering from respiratory problems for a long time. Days ago, his health condition had deteriorated.
Originally from Narshingdi, Ahmed had been living in the US for the past three decades. However, it's not clear where he will be buried.
Meanwhile, Shakib's performance in his comeback competitive cricket event was not good. He scored just 110 runs and bagged six wickets in nine games that he had played for Gemcon Khulna, according to a UNB report.
