Shakib Al Hasan and Ebadot Hossain claimed two wickets apiece as Bangladesh reduced Sri Lanka to 210-4 at lunch on day three of the second Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.
Shakib ended the session on 2-38 with pacer Ebadot playing a second fiddle to him, taking 2-54. The visitors are trailing by 155 runs still, reports BSS.
Left-arm spinner Shakib's wicket included the big one of Dimuth Karunaratne, the Sri Lankan captain who threatened to take the game away.
But Shakib spun one past viciously to him to rattle his stump when he was on 80. Karunaratne hit nine fours for a knock for which he played 155 balls.
The resistance came from Dhananjaya de Silva and Angelo Mathews who scored 199 in the first Test. They shared a 44-run in an unbroken fifth wicket to steady the ship as Sri Lanka went to lunch with some solace.
A sudden rain however forced the lunch session five balls earlier than the scheduled time.
Bangladesh were shot out for 365 in its first innings with Mushfiqur Rahim alone scoring 175 not and Liton Das adding 141.
Sri Lanka resumed on 143-2 but lost nightwatchman Kasun Rajitha in the second ball of the day when pacer Ebadot Hossain clean bowled him with express delivery.
