The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to allow Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to stay in rest from all formats of crickets until April 30.
The board took the decision on Wednesday, report espncricinfo.com and bdnews24.com.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, Jalal Yunus, chief of BCB cricket operations, said Shakib is in no condition to play cricket now due to his physical and mental state.
As a result, Shakib will miss Bangladesh's upcoming tour of South Africa, scheduled to run from March 12 to April 8.
On Sunday, Shakib had hinted at taking an international break due to his "physical and mental state", saying that he needed a "long-term plan" to manage his game time. Shakib said that he felt like a "passenger" in the just-concluded Afghanistan series, where he made 74 runs and took seven wickets in the three ODIs and two T20Is.
