La Liga has seen certain ups and downs of teams this season. FC Barcelona had an early drop off in the post-Messi era, Athletico Madrid could not perform as consistently as they would like.
Whereas teams like Real Bets, Villareal and Sevilla have been punching above their weight.
Sevilla is the better performer among these teams, currently being 3rd in the table. They had occupied the 2nd position behind Real Madrid from the start of the season. The recent resurgence of Barcelona however has dropped them down to 3rd, but their current form is still praiseworthy.
Julien Lopetegui took charge of Sevilla back in 2019 and has slowly been making progress. He has some great talents at his disposal like Jules Kounde, Lucas Ocampos, Alexandro Gomez, Eric Lamela and many more.
Veterans like Ivan Rakitic and Jesus Navas helped the side with their vast experience and quality as well. Anthony Martial also moved to the club on loan in January in order to gain some more game time.
Sevilla generally plays a 4-2-3-1 formation with Rafa Mir leading the lines who has been good this season. En-Nesyri has been limited this season due to injury but the playmakers and wingers are doing their fair share of scoring.
Progressive playmakers have been the mainstay with Sevilla along with a steady defence line. Jules Kounde has been one of the sought after defenders in world football with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid - all being linked to the player. Diego Carlos has been his partner in defence and together they have been responsible for their huge success.
La Liga has become a much more competitive league over the last few seasons and Sevilla had always been a consistent team. This season they have taken their performance to a new level and are involved in the title race.
Under some good authority, they can progress more in the upcoming seasons. It is up to them now that they don’t become a one-season wonder and carry the good performance in the following seasons.
