Bangladesh National Women's Football team made history by achieving their first-ever victory against the Indian National Women's team crushing their giant rival by a 3-0 goal in the last Group A match of the seven-nation 6th SAFF Women's Championship 2022 at the Dasharath Stadium (Rangasala) in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
With the day's well-merited victory, Bangladesh emerged as Group A champions to reach the semifinal with an all-win record securing full nine points from straight three group encounters while India finished Group A runners-up with six points from three encounters with two wins and one defeat, reports UNB.
In the semifinals on Friday (Sept 16), Bangladesh will play Group B runners-up Bhutan at 1:15 pm Bangladesh time while hosts Nepal will face India on the same day at 5:45 pm Bangladesh time at the same venue.
The final match will be held on Sept 19.
Bangladesh clearly dominated the day's match by a 2-0 goal in the first half.
Siraj Jahan Swapna struck twice, one in each half while Krishna Rani Sarkar netted the other goal in the first half.
Sirat Jahan Swapna put Bangladesh ahead in the 12th minute by a ground shot off a combined attack of Sabina and Krishna (1-0) while Krishna Rani Sarkar doubled the margin ten minutes later by an angular placing shot from the small box, capitalising on a Swapna pass (2-0).
Siraj Jahan Swapna sealed the fate of the match scoring her 2nd goal in the 53rd minute by a brilliant placing shot (3-0).
