Rajshahi Kings earned their fourth win of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Monday beating former champions Comilla Victorians by 38 runs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city, reports UNB.
Superb bowling by Kings' right-arm pacer Kamrul Islam Rabbi, who took four wickets for 10 runs, helped restrict the Victorians in 18.2 overs. It was largely thanks to Laurie Evans' century that helped Kings post a big score.
Victorians tumbled for 138, chasing 176. They had a good start with Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque in the opening stand.
Tamim was Rabbi's first wicket of the innings. Qais Ahmed and Ryan ten Doeschate took two wickets each for Kings.
Victorians won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Kings, sent to bat first, lost three quick wickets in 28 runs.
But a 148-run partnership between Ryan ten Doeschate and Evans in the fourth wicket stand helped the side post 176.
Evans hit the ongoing BPL's first ton. He was unbeaten at 104 off 62 balls with nine fours and six sixes. Ryan ten Doeschate hit unbeaten 59.
Liam Dawson took two wickets for the Victorians, and Mehedi Hasan bagged the other wicket.
Victorians will face Dhaka Dynamites today (Tuesday) while Kings will lock horns with Chittagong Vikings tomorrow (Wednesday).
