Coming from behind, Dhaka Mohammedan SC took the solo lead in the Green Delta Insurance Metropolis Premier Division Hockey League, reports UNB.
They beat defending champions and title contenders Dhaka Mariner Young's Club by 3-1 goals in a vital match at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium in the city on Wednesday.
With the day's feat, Mohammedan SC not only clinched the top slot but also maintained their all-win record in the league securing 30 points from straight 10 matches.
After the day's maiden defeat in the league, holders Dhaka Mariner Young's Club went down to the 2nd slot with 27 points from 10 matches. Dhaka Abahani Limited were in the 3rd slot with 24 points from nine matches, playing one match less.
All the three teams have already confirmed their berth in the five-team super league.
In the day's match, national player Hasan Jubair Niloy put Mariner Young's ahead in the 34th minute. Gurjinder Singh leveled the margin for Mohammedan SC in the 44th minute from a penalty stroke.
Arbinder Singh scored two quick goals for Mohammedan SC in the 64th and 68th minutes, both from penalty corners, enabling Mohammedan SC to beat a giant killer after beating traditional rivals Dhaka Ahabani Limited by 2-1 goals in the previous match.
In the day's other match, Sadharan Bima KS played 3-3 draw with Bangladesh Police Club at the same venue.
Joga Singh, Abdullah Al Mansur and Bishal scored for Sadharan Bima KS while Mohammedan Sohel, Nahid Chowdhury and Mahfuzur Rahman netted one each for the Police Club.
