World Cup champions Argentina football team, led by Lionel Messi, are likely to visit Bangladesh in June this year to play a FIFA friendly match.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Kazi Salahuddin gave the information on Tuesday, according to local newspapers.
“The tour of the Argentina team in Bangladesh is almost final, we are now discussing with them about their team and conditions, if everything will progress in the right way then there is no doubt about the match,” Kazi Salahuddin told UNB.
The friendly match will take place at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. The BFF president said they already sent a letter to National Sports Council (NSC) to complete ongoing renovation works on the stadium on an emergency basis.
The opponent team of Argentina during the match would be fixed after a discussion with Argentine officials, including coach Lionel Scaloni.
On September 6 in 2011, Lionel Messi's Argentina Football team played a friendly football match against the Nigeria National team at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. In that match, Argentina beat Nigeria by 3-1 goals. However, Argentina was not the World Champions at that time.
