Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) North Zone piled up 415/10 in the 1st innings against Islami Bank East Zone after the 2nd day's play in the four-day Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in the city on Wednesday, reports UNB.
In reply, the East Zone scored 110*/0 at stumps. BCB North Zone resumed the 1st innings with their overnight score of 204/5 in 65 overs and added 211 runs off 57.4 overs on the 2nd day to raise the innings tally to 415/10 in 122.4 overs. Overnight batsmen skipper Jahurul Islam (113 off 238b; 12x4) and Ariful Haque (101 off 201b; 7x4; 1x6) completed their centuries sharing 184 runs off 56.3 overs in the 6th wicket stand.
Starting from 166/5 in 50.4 overs, the partnership ended at 350/6 in 106.1 overs as Jahurul was caught behind by Jaker Ali off Mominul Haque.
Ariful was caught by Sohag Gazi off Abu Jayed at 380/7 in 116 overs.
Taijul Islam (30 off 42b; 3x4) and Shafiul Islam (17* off 14b; 3x4) were other double digit scorers for the side on the day.
Sohag Gazi (4/91) and Mohammad Ashraful (2/63) shared six wickets in the innings for IB East Zone.
IB East Zone opened the 1st innings on the 2nd day and scored 110* for no loss in 27 overs at stumps with Liton Kumar Das (52* off 70b; 6x4; 2x6) and Tasamul Haque (49* off 92b; 6x4) in the crease.
Meanwhile, Walton Central Zone led by 61 runs against Prime Bank South Zone, at stumps, in the second innings after the second day's play in another fifth round match of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
Replying to South Zone's 191 in the 1st innings, Central Zone resumed the innings with overnight score of 154/2 in 35 overs and finished the 1st innings on 302/10 in 88.3 overs.
Overnight batsmen Shadman Islam (93 off 176b; 12x4) fell short of seven runs for a century as he was caught behind by Nurul Hasan off veteran spinner Abdur Razzak on 212/5 in 61.5 overs. Wicketkeeper batsman Irfan Sukkur (54 off 70b; 11x4) was another notable scorer in the innings on the day while Mosharraf Hossain (28), Tanbir Hayder (22), another overnight batsman Marshall Ayub (15) and skipper Mahmudullah Riyad (14) were other double figure scorers for the side.
Country's veteran spinner Abdur Razzak captured six wickets for 106 runs in 31 overs in the innings while Nayeem Hasan (3/83) was another wicket taker for the side.
South Zone opened the 2nd innings and scored 50/1* in 19 overs, at stumps, with Anamul Haque (31*) and Imrul Kayes (10*) sharing the 2nd wicket when the bails were drawn for the 2nd day. Tanbir Hayder (1/5) dismissed Fazle Mahmud (9) on 37/1 in 4.1 overs to be the only wicket taker in the innings on the day.
