Bangladesh emerged champions in the Second ISSF International Solidarity Archery Championship securing five gold, five silver and one bronze medal on the closing day of the four-day meet at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium in the city on Wednesday, reports UNB.

Bangladesh also clinched the first ISSF Championship crown held in the city last year securing six gold medals and emerged champions for the 2nd successive year by winning four gold medals in the Compound Division and just one in the Recurve Division.

Iraq finished distant runners-up collecting one gold, two silver and one bronze medal, Turkey became third with one gold and one silver while Saudi Arabia was placed fourth securing one gold and one bronze medal. Estonia and Azerbaijan took the remaining two gold medals of the meet.

Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy was the chief guest at the day's closing ceremony and later he distributed the prizes.

President of Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) Lt Gen Mohammad Moinul Islam (retd) and BAF general secretary Kazi Rajibuddin Ahmed Chapal were also present on the occasion.

Roxana Akter of Bangladesh clinched the prestigious gold medal of the Compound Women's Singles beating Iraqi archer Almashhadani Fatimah by 136-133 score in the final.

Bangladesh earned the expected gold medal in the Compound Men's Singles as Ashim Kumar Das beat his compatriot Abul Kashem Mamun by 140-134 score in all Bangladesh final.

Besides, Bangladeshi Women' team comprising Roxana Akter, Bonnya Akhter and Ritu Akter clinched the Compound Women's team gold beating their rivals from Morocco by 216 -152 points while Bangladesh Men's team consisting of Ashim Kumar, Abul Kashem Mamun and Milon Mollah clinched Compound Men's team gold beating their Iraqi rivals by 225-205 points in the final. In the Recurve Division's finals in the afternoon, Bangladesh won Recurve Men's team consisting of Ruman Sana, Tamimul Islam and Sheikh Sajib clinched the team title beating their Nepalese rivals by 5-1 sets.

Bangladeshi renowned archer Ruman Sana remained satisfied with the silver medal of the Recurve Men's singles losing to Binali Abdalelah of Saudi Arabia by 1-7 sets.
