Germany men's football team no more look formidable

The start of this international break didn't turn out to be as anticipated for the German National Football team after a 1-0 defeat against Hungary, which turned out to be the team's first defeat after Hansi Flick took over.

Hungary, who didn't even qualify for this year's World Cup in Qatar, pulled off a spectacular performance, especially in the first half when the German team looked completely clueless.

Germany dropped to third place in their National League group after this defeat, with Hungary and Italy in the first and second positions, respectively.

Germany's performance in the last few years of the legendary manager Joachim Loew was not up to the mark. However, after Hansi Flick took over, things started to look positive for the team.

Still, this performance against Hungary has made the fans, as well as the critics, ask a lot of questions about the integrity as well as the 'never give up' attitude of the German National Team, which has not been evident in the past few years, even when the team won games by a big margin.

Germany still seems to be suffering from the lack of an outright striker. Yesterday, Timo Werner, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane formed the attacking trident, which was largely dysfunctional.

Leroy Sane is a shadow of the player he was at Manchester City, and despite some good performances with Bayern here and there, he is inconsistent. Serge Gnabry has not been at his best for a couple of seasons. Despite Timo Werner gaining some confidence back after returning to the Bundesliga, depending on him for goals would not be optimal for a team of Germany's stature.

The Bayern players in the squad were also largely ineffectual, which can be attributed to the drastic change in tactics they have to undergo while playing for the national team, as Julian Nagelsmann and Hansi Flick do not align tactically.

For the most part, the defence was one of the positives of yesterday's game. Still, the lack of coordination between the central defending pair of Antonio Rudiger and Niklas Sule with the midfield gave Hungary an upper hand in the game.

Although this is the first defeat under Flick, the team has not been in the rhythm that used to set Germany apart from other teams in the past. It would be really difficult for Hansi Flick to declutter all the problems that are going on in the team.

The team roaster is now the most diverse from any time in the past when the team used to be composed mainly of players from Bayern Munich. The fans would hope that he overcomes all these problems.
