FIFPRO Men's World XI turns into a laughingstock on social media

Yesterday's FIFA FIFPro Men's World XI has come as a shock for football lovers around the world due to a very unconventional formation to accommodate four attackers in the team as well as some high profile inclusions.

The goalkeeper position was awarded to Donnarumma despite Mendy being crowned as the best goalkeeper which was quite baffling, to begin with.

Although the voting criteria for the best goalkeeper award and the FIFA Pro World XI are quite different, this type of distinction is not acceptable according to most Football fans on social media.

The three-men backline which was introduced by FIFA is seen as an attempt to include as many star players as possible upfront.

David Alaba being there also was a bit over the top as the Austrian was having quite a rough patch before being transferred to Real Madrid in the first half of 2021.

The midfield was quite reasonable, although one might argue that Joshua Kimmich or Pedri could have been fair inclusions as well. The midfield was by far the most logical of all the slots being selected.

The inclusion of 4 men in the attack was a matter of laughter for football fans across the world.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo being in either flank looked like wingbacks if seen in reverse order.

Erling Haaland is one of the strikers was a bit controversial as one might argue that both Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema deserved the position more than him.

Many pundits have considered the inclusion of Haaland to be a strategic move by FIFA as the youngster's transfer rumours with many different clubs of Europe is one of the most talked-about issues in European Football at this moment.

FIFA Pro is an association of professional footballers. Hence, creating such a controversial eleven is not acceptable from such an organisation that claims to cater to the general footballers.
