Does Conte have a fair shot at the Premier League title?

After Conte took over Tottenham Hotspur from Nuno Espirito Santo, expectations from fans were quite high for him. As a veteran manager who has won many domestic titles, he was thought to be the man who could end the woes of Kane, Son, and Co. His first season was pretty decent as he made Tottenham qualify for the UCL for the first time since the 2019-20 season.

It is early in his second season, and nothing can be extrapolated so far. However, Tottenham has one win and one draw in the two matches that they played in the Premier League.

But from Conte's managerial history, it is evident that he has always won silverware in his second season. So, the question of whether he would be able to lead Tottenham to a domestic title comes into the picture.

Conte has already made several signings; notable among them are the acquisitions of Ivan Perisic and Clement Lenglet. As one of the few managers who still use a tweaked version of Catenaccio, Conte is quite unorthodox for the English Premier League.

But due to his different approach to football, he took the whole Premier League by surprise when he won the title with Chelsea, utilising a 3-5-2 formation. Conte, in Tottenham, has not drifted away from the formation as he has used some modified versions of a three-person backline. As effective and disciplined as the approach is, it still is not the time to say whether this will bring positive results or not.

He has bolstered the attack with the signing of Brazilian forward Richarlison from Everton for a fee of £58 million. Conte is an expert at using the flanks from a counter-attack, and Richarlison appears to be one of the best options in the market for this.

Whether Conte will win a domestic title this season is still an open question. But Conte's Tottenham Hotspur looks rejuvenated and hungry for titles, an instinct that has been missing from the team for a long time.
