Dhaka Mohammedan made a good start to the second phase of the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football, beating their neighbour Arambagh 2-1 on Saturday.
Mali forward Souleymane Diabate scored all the goals for Mohammedan, first in the ninth minute and the other in the stoppage time (90+2) of the match.
However, Arambagh reduced the margin with a gifted goal as Mohammedan defender Habibur Rahman Shohag sent the ball to his net while trying to turn down a shot at the goal in the 46th minute.
After the match at Bangabandhu National Stadium, Mohammedan remained at the sixth slot in the 13- team league securing 22 points from 13 matches while Arambagh remained at the bottom with only one point from as many games, reports UNB.
