B’desh suffer defeat against hosts S’pore in Women’s AHF Cup

Bangladesh Women’s Juniors Hockey team suffered a 0-3 goals defeat against hosts Singapore in their opening match of the six-nation Women’s Juniors (U-21) AHF Cup Hockey Qualifiers in the city-state on Monday, reports UNB.

Bangladesh conceded three goals in the 40th, 45th and 58th minutes respectively.

Six Asian countries—Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, Sri Lanka, debutants Bangladesh and hosts Singapore—are taking part in the tournament on round-robin basis.

Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka Tuesday (Sept 10) at 04:00 pm, Hong Kong on Wednesday (Sept 11), Uzbekistan on Friday (Sept 13) and Chinese Taipei on Sunday (Sept 15).

Two top teams will be qualified for the final round of the Women’s Junior Asia Cup in Japan on October 2020 along-side China, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Thailand, who are directly qualified for the meet based on their results in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2015.
