All the Bangladesh archers except one reached the finals of nine events out of 10 on the 3rd day of the four-day 2nd ISSF International Archery Championship at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium in the city on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Only Nasrin Akter of Bangladesh failed to storm the final of the Recurve Women's Singles as she lost to Tagaeve Zukhro of Tajikistan by 1-7 set points in the bronze medal deciding match after conceding 0-6 sets points defeat against Turkey rival in the semifinal.
All the gold deciding finals will be held today (Wednesday). Five Compound events will be held in the morning while five Recurve events in the afternoon.
Of the nine finalist events, Bangladesh assured at least one gold medal in Compound Men's Singles as two local archers --Abul Kashem Mamun and Ashim Kumar Das--will meet each other in the final.
Rumman Sana of Bangladesh reached the final of the Recurve Men's Singles to face Binali Abdalelah of Saudi Arabia while Roxana Akter of Bangladesh moved into the Compound Women's Singles final to meet her Iraqi rival.
Rumman Sana and Nasrin Akter advanced to the final of Recurve Mixed Team. Rumman Sana, Tamimul Islam and Sheikh Sajib booked a seat for the final of the Recurve Men's Team while Nasrin Akter, Beauty Roy and Radia Akter moved to the final of Recurve Women's team.
Besides, Bangladeshi archers reached the finals of Compound Mixed Team, Compound Men's Team and Compound Women's Team.
Bonnya Akter of Bangladesh won the bronze medal in the Compound Women's Singles beating Hoim Emily of Estonia by 139-137 score.
