The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has spent a total of Tk 12.07 billion solely for hosting cricket events in the last eight fiscal years (FYs).
The money came from the board’s own fund as the government does not allocate money in favour of the BCB for holding cricket events.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder told this in the parliament while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member M Nazrul Islam Babu of Narayanganj-2 on Monday.
The state minister, according to BSS, also informed that BCB spent Tk 1.04 billion for conducting cricket programme in FY10 and Tk 1.39 billion FY11.
Tk 1.30 billion was spent in FY12, Tk 1.01 billion in FY13, Tk 1.57 billion in FY14, Tk 2.30 in FY15, Tk 1.65 billion in FY16 and Tk 1.81 billion in FY17, Biren added.
