Group B runners-up Bangladesh U-23 team will play Group F runners-up North Korea in the knockout phase match of the 18th Asian Games Men’s Football for the first time at the Wibawa Mukti Stadium in Cikarang, Indonesia on Friday, reports UNB.
The match will kick off at 06:00 pm Bangladesh time.
On completion of Group F matches, four teams—Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia and Myanmar—have secured four points each.
But, Iran emerged group champions by virtue of better goal difference and North Korea finished runners-up scoring more goals than Saudi Arabia, despite both the teams have secured same points and same goal difference.
Saudi Arabia, hosts Indonesia, the UAE and Pakistan also qualified for the round of 16 as the four best 3rd placed teams of the six groups.
Earlier, Bangladesh U-23 team reached the round of 16 (knockout phase) for the first time adding a glorious chapter to the country’s football eliminating Qatar, the hosts of the FIFA World Cup 2022, by 1-0 goal in the last B Group match at Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium in Bekasi, Jakarta, on Sunday.
