Bangladesh set target of 223

Bangladesh scored a meagre total of 222 for all in 48.3 overs against India in the final of Unimoni Asia Cup despite a brilliant maiden ton by Liton das on Friday at Dubai.

Earlier, after winning the toss, India invited the Tigers to bat first and found their bowlers under fire amid some good hitting by opener Liton Das.

Make-shift opener Mehidy Hasan also ably helped Liton by playing the sheet-anchor role and scoring 32 off 59 balls.

Even after Mehidy got out in the 21st over with the team total of 120, Bangladesh looked poised to post a score of way over 300.

Then wickets stated to fall like nine pins owing to wayward hitting and ridiculous running between the wickets by the middle order batsmen.

Soon Bangladesh found themselves into deep trouble at 151 for 5 in the 33rd over.

At that point 200 plus score seemed to be a daunting task.

Liton fell in the last ball of 41st over on 121 off 117 deliveries to some good work behind the stumps by Dhoni and controversial decision by TV umpire leaving Bangladesh reeling at 188 for 6.

However, an uncharacteristically slow knock of 33 off 45 balls by Soumya Sarker helped Bangladesh go past the 200 mark.

Kuldeep Yadav took 3 for 45 for India while Jadav took 2 wickets for 41 runs.

Three Bangladeshi batsmen were run out.
