Bangladesh need 241 to win 2nd ODI against Zimbabwe

Shoriful Islam’s 4 for 46 and two top order wickets captured by Shakib Al Hasan restricted Zimbabwe to 240 runs for nine wickets in the second one-day international (ODI) cricket match at Harare on Sunday.

Despite a half century by Wessley Madhevere (56) and a fluent 46 scored by home side captain Brendan Taylor, Zimbabwe failed to reach 250-run market.

However, the hosts are still in a fighting position, given the fact that they might have been bowled out at a score below 200 runs unless Madhevere and Sikandar Raza (30) played fighting innings. Zimbabwe lost their fifth wicket at 146 in 32.5 overs.

Bangladesh are not either unhappy side in view of their batting performance in the first ODI two days ago when they posted 270-plus score. Zimbabwe were then bowled out only for 121.

The first innings of the second ODI may be summed up in the performance of the two captains: Tamim Iqbal took an extremely tough catch of Madhevere off Shoriful Islam while Brendan Taylor got out hitting wicket off Shoriful Islam.

Bangladesh batters will now to chasing the 241-run target to win the three-match ODI series.
