Bangladesh beat Laos booters 1-0 on Thursday on their home ground in a match of the pre-qualification round of the 2022 Soccer World Cup to be held in Qatar.
Rabiul Hasan of the Bangladesh camp scored the lone important goal.
72 minutes into the game, Mamunul Islam of Bangladesh delivered a ball and Rabiul netted it with a strong right footer.
Earlier also Bangladesh got some opportunities to score. But they could not capitalise on them.
With this win, Bangladesh moved ahead in its bid for entering the second round that will comprise 40 teams. The teams will be divided into eight groups.
Bangladesh and Laos will face off in the return leg match at Dhaka’s Bangabandhu National Stadium on June 11.
