National cricketer Sabbir Rahman's all-round performance helped Abahani Limited earn their second consecutive win in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) on Monday, reports UNB.

They beat Uttara Sporting Club by a massive 189 runs in their second match at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.

Sent to bat first, defending champions Abahani scored 285 for six wickets in 50 overs. Sabbir scored an unbeaten 61 off 35 balls hitting four fours and four sixes.

Jahurul Islam, who struck a century in the first match, scored 45 but Sri Lanka recruit Kaushal Silva got out after scoring 10.

Abahani posted 22 runs in the first wicket stand. Nazmul Hossain Shanto joined Jahurul in the second wicket and the pair put up 89 runs on the board. Shanto, who has been going through a tough time, struck 83 off 84 balls with seven fours and two sixes.

Abahani captain Mosaddek Hossain also struck a fifty for the champions. Nahid Hasan, a left-arm pacer of Uttara SC, bagged three wickets while Abdul Rashid and Mohimenul Khan took one each.

Chasing the big target, Uttara collapsed for 96 in 33 overs. Rubel Hossain took three wickets while Ariful Hasan and Sabbir bagged two each.

Sabbir was adjudged the man of the match.

In the day's other match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club suffered their second successive defeat in the league losing to Brothers Union Club by seven wickets.

Sheikh Jamal crumbled for 180 runs in 47.5 overs while batting first. Elias Sunny, coming to bat at number eight, struck 42. Rakin Ahmed (34) and Tanbir Hyder (32) were the other notable batsmen for Sheikh Jamal.
