Citing a recent statistics, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak said cloud-based business in Bangladesh reached currently worth nearly Tk 13 million per year.
In the next three to five years, the scope of cloud-based business in the country would likely grow by another 20 to 25 per cent, he hints.
The state minister made the remarks while inaugurating a free Microsoft Cloud Skills training programme through a virtual platform on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) and Corporate Projukti Limited jointly organised the function.
BHTPA Managing Director Hosne Ara Begum chaired the event.
The BHTPA will impart training on Microsoft Cloud Skill among 5,000 youths and professionals through this programme.
The global freelance market has about $ 1.8 million worth of cloud services, Mr Palak points out.
In his inaugural address, the state minister further said that all the domestic companies using Microsoft's cloud solutions deserved professional vendor certificates in respect of jobs.
There are currently about 10,000 professionals working in the cloud-based service sector in Bangladesh while in the next three to five years, another 10,000 professional experts will be employed in this sector, he insists.
In the future, companies like Microsoft, Google and Amazon would be interested in providing training for our manpower to adapt their platform, he added.
