Malay police bust Bangladeshi human trafficking syndicate

Malaysian police have arrested another Bangladeshi human trafficker on Friday morning.

The trafficker, identified as “Abang Bangla” (43), was arrested on the day’s early hours along with Malaysian during a raid.

Malaysia’s immigration department revealed the information to Malaysia-based The Star Online.

“Abang Bangla” used to lead a syndicate of human traffickers in the south-east Asian country.

Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said, his officers raided a house in Shah Alam and found 50 Bangladeshis occupying it.

“These people, mostly blacklisted by the department, had travelled from Dhaka to Jakarta, Indonesia and then took a boat to enter Malaysia illegally,” Mr Ali said

Some of the Bangladeshis, aged between 20 and 45, could not fly into Malaysia as they were blacklisted, he said.

“They were here previously and we caught them for working illegally or with expired permits. That's why they were blacklisted and could not enter Malaysia through official means,” he added.

RM 13,000 was also seized at the scene.
