5G services launched in India 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched 5G services in the country. Users will be able to enjoy 5G services in a couple of weeks. 

The 5G network will not only offer faster Internet speed to users but also help offer support to the federal and state governments in areas such as disaster management and agriculture, among others. 

5G services will be rolled out in the country in a phased manner. The 13 cities where 5G networks will be launched first include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune, reports Xinhua. 

At the launch ceremony, Modi said that it was a historic day for 21st century India. "5G technology will revolutionize the telecom sector. 5G is a knock on the doors of a new era in the country. 5G is the beginning of an infinite sky of opportunities. 5G technology will not be limited to speedy internet access, but it has the capability to change lives," he added.  

He also said that the cost of Internet data in India was among the lowest in the world. The federal government has said that users in India won't be required to pay a lot for 5G services.
