An accidental blast in Afghanistan’s northern province of Faryab killed ten Taliban militants and injured four others, an army source said Saturday.
The explosion took place roughly at 10:30 pm local time Friday, in Sar Hawz village, Pashton Kot district, south of provincial capital Maimana city, Hanif Rezai, a press officer of army Corps 209 Shaheen based in the region said.
News agency Xinhua reported quoting the official that the militants were busy in a compound in building improvised explosive devices (IEDs) when the blast occurred.
Two Taliban bomb-making experts were among those killed.
Taliban militants and Islamic State fighters have been using IEDs to make roadside bombs and landmines for targeting security forces, but the lethal home-made weapons also inflict casualties on civilians.
The Taliban has yet to make comments on the report.
