Three children were killed by unexploded ordnance when they were playing near the social security building in the city in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi on Monday.

There were no reports of additional casualties, Benghazi's Joint Central Security Chamber said in a statement.

The Chamber warned parents and residents against approaching any unknown objects and demanded them to immediately report any suspicious objects, according to a Xinhua news agency report.

Landmines and unexploded ordnance have killed army soldiers and civilians in Benghazi, which has witnessed violent war for more than three years between the eastern-based army and terrorist groups before the army took over the whole city later last year.
