Bangladesh, in the past few years, has been progressing and challenging the global market in terms of all the industry, whether it be the social platform or the retail industry.
Bangladesh Brand Forum with Shopno as their title sponsor, powered by Monno and Lotto organised the second Bangladesh Retail Congress on 18th November 2017 in Le Meridian, Dhaka. The goal of the congress was to redefine the retail industry and know about its evolution over all these years and to dive further into the future prospects of the Bangladeshi Retail Industry.
The congress was hosted by Zeeshan Kingshuk Huq, who started his career by working with the corporate sector of Bangladesh and then ventured into the world of e-commerce through Zero Gravity, Sindbad and kiksha.com, which is currently one of the largest online retail platforms of Bangladesh.
The event started off with the keynote session taken by Mr. Damodar Mall, CEO of Grocery Retail, Reliance Retail ltd, who is also the author of the book named Supermarketwala. In the session he explains his book, Supermarketwala and how to win your consumers. He believes that the secret to success is to understand the customers best and without it, neither the online nor the physical retail stores can function.
The other keynote sessions were conducted by Arijit Chakraborti, the partner, technology consulting of PwC who talked about the growth of the retails business with technology and how the blocks of the future should be built. In his speech, he focused on the necessity of collecting both qualitative and quantitative data on the consumers. He highlighted the importance of the knowledge about consumers or any retail business to succeed.
The third keynote was conducted by Armando O. Bartolome, President of GMB Management Services Global Inc. He is a Philippines’ Franchise Guru, who solely believes that even if the retails aim to start off small, they can become the biggest when they love what they do.
The congress also included extensive panel discussions and breakout sessions where the experts like Kazi Jamil Islam, Managing Director of Express Leather products ltd, Rubaiyat Jamil, Chief Executive Officer of Rangs Industries and a lot other renowned expertise in the field of expertise were involved, discussed about the future of retail industry in Bangladesh, the usage of technology in retail and the skill development in the retail sector.
The congress ended with the keynote session conducted by Ms. Shabri Prabhakar, the head of International Business at Coffee Day Global Ltd.
The congress provided an opportunity for all the aspiring businessmen interested in getting involved with the retail industry to know about the prospects for Bangladesh and what the necessary steps are to succeed, hoping for a more successful Bangladesh.
