The employees and workers of Faridpur Sugar Mills demanded to the government to pay all their dues immediately for the sake of their survival.
They made the demand from a rally in front of the National Press Club on Friday.
The employees and workers also called upon the government to save the country's six closed sugar mills by modernising and reopening those to ensure employment of the staff members, as they are passing through a tough time.
They opined that proper marketing of sugar, produced in these mills, could help reduce financial loss of the units.
The participants of the rally included family members of the workers of Faridpur Sugar Mills, some of whom also spoke on the occasion.
They said they have deep-rooted feelings with the sugar mills. But the government shut down six mills, including Faridpur.
They focused on saving the sugar mills, their employees, workers and sugarcane farmers. They called upon the Prime Minister and the Industries Minister to save the closed state-run sugar mills.
