A month-long International Women SME Expo begins at Polo Ground in the city tomorrow (Sunday) under the auspices of Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Women entrepreneurs from Iran, India, China, Indonesia, Thailand and Pakistan besides Bangladesh women entrepreneurs will participate in the twelfth event in as many as 350 stalls. In addition to the stalls the entrepreneurs will display their products in 10 pavilions.
Organisers said Prime Minister's Adviser for International Relations Dr Gawhar Rizvi will formally inaugurate the expo as the chief guest at 4.00 PM on Sunday.
The event will be addressed by Chittagong City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, MA Latif, MP, Sabiha Nahar Begum, MP, chairman of Chittagong Development Authority Abdus Salam and president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mahbubul Alam as the special guests.
The women entrepreneurs from across the country will be able to join the expo at a nominal entry fee while full-fledged security for the women will be ensured as there will be a police camp, private security personnel, fire service station and the entire Polo Ground has been brought under close circuit camera network.
An attractive entertainment park will be there to give amusement to the children free of cost, said Dr Kunal Mahbub, vice president of Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry and chairperson of the 12th Women SME Expo Committee said.
