What's up, what's down-

The prices of imported onion, honey and industrial raw materials, tobacco items, disodium sulphate, lightning arrester, dredger, furniture and industrial salt may go up in the upcoming fiscal year.

Cost of mobile phone usage, SIM card, imported handset, ticket of air-conditioned launch, fare of chartered plane and helicopter, cosmetics, and car and jeep registration are also poised to rise.

Ceramic sink basin, imported frozen cuts and offal of fowls, dredger, self-tapping screw, threaded nuts of iron/steel, inkjet refill in injectable form, aluminium alloy wire, lightning arrester and artificial guts (sausage casings) will also increase in prices.

The price rises will have an upward adjustment of taxes proposed in the budget, which was placed in parliament on Thursday, for fiscal year 2020-2021.

On the other side, prices of soya bean oil cake, gold, table-cutting machine, hand-operated sprayers for agricultural use, tyre used on agricultural tractors, parts of solar-powered lantern or lamps, industrial racking system, furnace oil, detergent, raw materials for steel and poultry feed may go down.

Local medical products like coronavirus test kit, personal protective equipment, surgical mask, face mask, medicine to treat COVID-19, hand sanitiser, local mustard oil, imported gold, fridge, air-conditioner, detergent, sanitary napkin and diaper may also fall in prices.

Also, LPG cylinder, soya protein concentrate used in poultry, concretes, paraffin wax, solar battery, potato flakes, maize starch, agricultural machineries such as power ripper, power tiller, operated seeders, combined harvester, rotary tiller, refractory cement for steel industry and photographic plates will be cheaper.

Locally-manufactured router, printed circuit board, solar battery and cotton yarn are also proposed to come cheap.
