Walton sets example of owner-workers relation: NHRC

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque said that the Walton factory and the organisation sets example of friendly relation between owner-workers.

The NHRC Chairman said that he witnessed the relation which has set example to local and foreign companies by ensuring all kinds of facilities for workers.

He came up with the remark after visiting the country’s leading manufacturer of electronics, electrical, ICT, home and kitchen appliances products, in Chandra of Gazipur on Wednesday.

Expressing his satisfaction over the management he observed that employees were spontaneously working there in a friendly environment, says a statement.

About the issue of profit sharing among workers, the NHRC Chairman said, “There are many multinational companies in the country, especially of European companies, who do not distribute dividends among workers.

However, Walton, being a local company, is distributing a certain portion of its profits among workers which is exemplary for others. He also praised Walton for not recruiting child laborers in its factory.

Mr Hoque also said that the domestic production increased remarkably reducing the import cost while employment and business opportunities have been created for many people with the establishment of the Walton factory in the country.

During his visit, the NHRC Chairman was accompanied by the commission’s secretary Hiranamaya Baroi, director (complain and investigation) Al-Mahmud Fayzul Kabir, director (admin and finance) Kazi Arfan Ashik, deputy director Mohammad Gazi Salauddin and M Rabiul Islam, Public Relation Officer Farhana Sayed.

Earlier, the chairman and his entourage were welcomed by SM Shamsul Alam, managing director of Walton Group, upon their arrival at the factory premises.

Walton Group Executive Director SM Zahid Hasan and Sirajul Islam, Media Adviser Enayet Ferdous and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
