Vietnam wants direct air connectivity with Bangladesh

Vietnam has expressed its keen interest to establish direct air connectivity with Bangladesh.

Vietnam Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh expressed her country's desire on Friday while holding a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Intercontinental Sydney Hotel in Australia.

Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque briefed reporters after the meeting.

The Vietnam Vice President said Bangladesh's trade with Vietnam has increased and it (trade volume) needs to go up further. They are interested to establish direct air connectivity or airlines service," said the Foreign Secretary.

Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, who is now in Sydney to participate in Global Women Summit 2018, congratulated Sheikh Hasina for winning the Global Women Leadership Award, reports UNB.

She also highly praised the Prime Minister for her role in women emancipation and empowerment. The Vietnam Vice President appreciated Bangladesh for its unprecedented development in socio-economic areas.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque, PMO Secretary Sajjadul Hassan, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karin and Bangladesh High Commissioner to Australia Mohammad Sufiur Rahman were present at the meeting.
