University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) is going to hold a conference on February 16 aiming to underscore the importance of financial inclusion in the developing countries.

The day-long programme titled ‘The 2019 Financial Inclusion Summit’ will take place at Lakeshore Hotel in the capital.

Sajid Amit, associate professor of ULAB and director of Centre for Enterprise and Society (CES) and EMBA programme said, “When people from all walks of life in a country like Bangladesh are included in financial services, it impacts the economy positively. As a result, every citizen of the land reaps the benefits of economic welfare.”

Professor Amit further said the gains from financial inclusion can be witnessed at both retail and macroeconomic levels, adding that at the retail level, people can have greater access to capital to withstand economic shocks, whereas at macro level, financial institutions can effectively use increased savings to create investments which in turn will create employments.

Planning Minister MA Mannan will attend the programme as the chief guest.

ULAB is organising the conference in partnership with bKash.
