The government has requested the authorities concerned of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to fix wage structure for Bangladeshi workers staying in the gulf state.
Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad made the request at a meeting with Dr Abdulrahman Abdulmannan Al Awar, the UAE minister of human resources and emiratisation (MOHRE).
The bilateral meeting was held on Tuesday evening at Al Habtoor Palace in Dubai.
Bangladesh's expatriate welfare minister also thanked the UAE minister for resuming recruitment from Bangladesh.
He also called for opening visas to hire Bangladeshi workers to other provinces of the Arab nation.
Dr Abdulrahman Abdulmannan Al Awar assured that they would consider opening up workers' visas for Bangladesh to all provinces.
The meeting also discussed different issues related to bilateral interests of both the countries.
