UAE interested in BD energy sector investment

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Saeed Bin Hajar Alshehi has said his country is eager to boost trade relations with Bangladesh further.

Dr Alshehi said this as he called on State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid at his ministry office today.

Chief Executive Officer of Emirate National Oil Company (ENOC) Saif Al Falasi, who accompanied the UAE ambassador, said the ENOC is interested to invest in the energy sector of Bangladesh besides supplying LNG and jet fuel.

He said ENOC’s experiences could be better utilised in constructing refinery, Floating Storage Re-gasification Unit (FSRU) and land-based terminal for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Bangladesh.

Reciprocating to the state-run Emirate National Oil Company's investment interest, the state minister said Bangladesh would require foreign investment in its power and energy sectors to help implement its vision and master plan undertaken by the government.

During the call on, the state minister and the ambassador discussed various issues of mutual interests.
Managing Director of ENOC Tayyeb all Molla was also present.
