Two more crisis-ridden e-commerce platforms -- Shreshtho.com and alifworld.com -- have refunded Tk 4.3 million to their 32 customers.
Chief of the Digital Commerce Cell (DCC) AHM Shafiquzzaman disbursed the funds to the customers at his secretariat office on Monday.
Senior ministry officials and representatives from Bangladesh Bank, e-CAB, law enforcement agencies, different state agencies and e-commerce platforms attended the disbursement event.
Eight e-commerce platforms have already refunded funds partially that were stuck up with different payment gateways. The other e-commerce companies are now in the process of refunding the money which they received as advance payments, Mr Shafiquzzaman said.
The cell will hand over a list to the law enforcers for taking the next course of action if the crisis-ridden e-commerce companies do not communicate on paying back stuck funds within March 31 this year, said the DCC chief.
The technical committee on the e-commerce sector will meet in April to work out how the clients would get back their funds stuck with the different payment gateways, he added.
Initially, the crisis-ridden platforms started refunding customers the money that got stuck with the SSL payment gateway, a source said.
Around 10 e-commerce companies including Qcoom, Alesha Mart and Dalal Plus have already started refunding the stuck-up funds.
The government authorities have taken multiple steps in the wake of various scandals by dubious e-commerce platforms such as Evaly, E-orange, Dhamaka Shopping, Sirajganj Shop, etc.
